Lost in a monsoon torrent
I see light
Tremulous on trembling leaves
And wet scented earth
Watching a raindrop prism
Reflecting
Splashing birds in puddles
And tender tendrils
Bursting from cocoon seeds
Into life…..
….. on soggy banks
where waters raged
In a turmultons flood
And brown, bouncing babes
were swept away,
And the beggar’s empty bowl
was shattered
Against a pot of shining brass
In a swirling torrent
My children play
with paper boats
Uncaring of the Dead.
